Dean's Welcome Message!

Welcome to the Faculty of Engineering at the Papua New Guinea University of Technology (ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍøUoT)!

As the Dean of this prestigious faculty, I am honoured to lead a community that is dedicated to excellence in engineering education, research, and innovation. ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍøUoT is the only technological university in the Papua New Guinea (ÌÇÐÄTV¹ÙÍø). So, our faculty is the cornerstone of technological advancement in the country and beyond, playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of engineering in the country through our commitment to quality education and impactful research.

Our Faculty of Engineering comprises four dynamic schools:

> School of Civil Engineering
> School of Electrical & Communication Engineering
> School of Mechanical Engineering
> School of Mining Engineering

Each school is equipped with state-of-the-art lab equipment and staffed by a team of highly qualified and experienced faculty members who are passionate about teaching and research. We offer a diverse range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs designed to prepare our students for the challenges of the modern engineering landscape. Our curriculum is continually updated to reflect the latest advancements in technology and
industry practices, ensuring that our graduates are not only skilled engineers but also innovative problem-solvers and leaders in their fields. Our undergraduate programs under the above four schools have received Provisional accreditation in 2019 from Washington Accord through Engineers Australia (EA) and we are working to get the full accreditation of programs as soon as possible.

At the Faculty of Engineering, we are committed to fostering an environment of academic excellence and research innovation. Our faculty members are actively engaged in research projects that address some of the most pressing issues of our time, from sustainable development and environmental conservation to technological innovation and infrastructure development inside the country. We encourage our students to participate in these research endeavours, providing them with invaluable hands-on experience and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful advancements in engineering.

We also place a strong emphasis on collaboration and partnership with industry, government, and other academic institutions. These collaborations enhance our educational offerings, provide our students with real-world experience, and ensure that our research has a tangible impact on society. Through internships, Professional Work Engagement (PWE) of 450 hrs. with the industry, and joint research initiatives, our students gain exposure to the professional engineering environment and build connections that will benefit them throughout their careers.

The faculty has widely set not to be traditional in our applied educational systems to guarantee the highest quality in the learning process. This is why we seek to apply the most recent and modern teaching and pedagogies methods, that promote critical and innovative thinking in all our students.

Finally, I would like to express my great confidence in the academic staff, lab managers, technical staff, administrative staff, personnel, and students to work together to promote the faculty towards development and progress.
